Lourdes O. Pineda MD's Obituary
Lourdes O. Pineda MD (December 27, 1941 – January 21, 2026) Lourdes O. Pineda, a dedicated pediatrician and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully in her home on January 21, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on December 27, 1941, in Sariaya, Philippines, she was a woman of immense brilliance and compassion. She graduated valedictorian from St. Joseph’s Academy. She pursued her calling in medicine at the University of Santo Tomas, graduating with high honors, meritissimus. Specializing in Pediatrics, she came to the United States to complete her medical school education and training. Her career was defined by a lifelong commitment to the health and wellbeing of children.
For over 40 years, she served the community and patients at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden Osborn Family Health Center with a gentle hand and a sharp mind. She was not just a doctor; she was a fierce advocate for her young patients, often going above and beyond to ensure every child in her care felt safe and seen. She was one of the original pediatricians at Osborn and was well loved by the patients, the staff, and the community.
Beyond her professional achievements, she was the heart of her home. It was her strong belief in the importance of family and her devout loyalty to the Roman Catholic faith that made her a pillar of strength and love. She was also a world traveler traveling to many cities and countries and a lover of culture and arts finding joy in Broadway shows and museums. She shared these passions with her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family. Known for her impeccable style and decorum, she admired fashion and shared her sense of style with her family.
Her resilience and strength were evident in the courage she showed in her battle with Breast Cancer, double-knee replacements, Bells Palsy and later in her years as she battled many chronic medical conditions. Throughout all these medical challenges, she held steadfast to her faith and the love and support of her family.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Verne M. Pineda, MD, her children, Rica and Robert, her sisters Lydia (Martinez) and Lilibeth (Cabunag), her daughter-in-law Jennifer (Johnston) and her grandchildren, (Caroline and Emily Pineda), who were her greatest pride and joy, and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Froilan Ocampo and Cristeta Fabre.
