Lucy Costa's Obituary
Lucy Costa passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, with her family by her side. Born in Philadelphia to Frank and Agnes Costa, Lucy was 78 years old. She was a resident of Mt. Laurel for the past 15 years and previously lived in Delran for 34 years.
Beloved and devoted mother of Tara (Keith) Belford, Dayna Cerminara, and Matthew (Amy) Costa. Cherished Mom-Mom to Vaughn, Ryan, Andrew, Nicholas, Emily, and Christopher. Lucy is predeceased by her brother, Frank Costa, and is also survived by many loving cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Lucy earned her master’s degree in teaching from Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, and dedicated her career as a special ed teacher, touching countless lives through her compassion, patience, and commitment to her students. A woman of deep faith, she was a dedicated member of the Catholic church and served for many years as a Perpetual Adoration volunteer.
Lucy was a devoted lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. She loved watching their games, recording stats, and celebrating victories with family and friends. Above all, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren and sharing holidays and celebrations. She was a phenomenal cook and also enjoyed decorating, gardening, puzzles and having her home filled with love and laughter. She was a true matriarch of the family whose presence made every moment and gathering more special.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 26th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, Cinnaminson, NJ.
Family and friends are also invited to attend Lucy’s Funeral Mass on Friday, June 27th at 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection Parish, Church of the Holy Name Site, 260 Conrow Road, Delran, NJ 08075.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lucy’s name may be made to Good Counsel Homes, a nonprofit organization supporting pregnant mothers in need: www.goodcounselhomes.org.
