Luis V. German Jr.'s Obituary
Luis V. German, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at his residence in Cherry Hill, NJ. Luis was the cherished husband of Larye, beloved only son of Luis and Sonia German and doting older brother to his sister Carolina.
Luis was baptized at St. Luke’s Church in the Bronx, New York and spent his early years in the Bronx and Brooklyn New York. His appetite for learning was apparent at an early age as demonstrated by his selection to the Mary Magdalene school’s Gifted and Talented program. Luis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Masters of Arts in School Administration degree from Rowan University.
An English teacher for seventeen years at Lenape Regional High School, Luis provided positive connections for his students on a daily basis and was a mentor and listening ear for those whom he sensed needed encouragement.
During his youth, Luis played baseball and basketball, a fitting start to his love of all local sports teams especially the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
He appreciated the arts, and was himself a creative man; writing poetry and short stories, sketching, painting and photography. Luis was known for recalling the perfect quote from literature to apply to a situation.
He found pleasure in playing video games, sampling different cuisines, biking and fitness. Luis called himself a “homebody” who loved watching TV and movies with Larye and their dog Teddy and walking Teddy through their Barclay Farms neighborhood and on local hiking trails.
Everyone who knew Luis loved Luis. His heart was big and his spirit was generous. Well done, good and faithful servant. You have earned your rest.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, February 10th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Givnish of Marlton 398 East Main Street. Luis’ Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at approximately 12:00 pm at Colestown Cemetery, Cherry Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Luis V German, Jr. Memorial Scholarship that is being established to benefit students of Lenape Regional High School. Details will be made available at a later date.
