Luz N. Pagan's Obituary
Luz N. Pagan, 63, passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2024. A devoted mom and grandmother. A blessing to her grandchildren.
Luz was born on February 25, 1961, in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, to her biological parents, Heriberto Pagan Ortega and Conrada Tirado Melendez and was raised by dad Heriberto and wife Olga Pagan Santos with loving guidance from her aunt and uncle Maria and Dioniosio Pagan. In 1964, Luz moved from Puerto Rico to New York before settling in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1969. She graduated 8th grade from St. Joseph's School and later attended Hoboken High School.
Luz's greatest joy in life was being a grandmother. Spending time with her grandsons, David, Dominic, and Darius, it was her favorite thing to do and her favorite place to be was anywhere with them. Whether cheering them on in their accomplishments, whether at a game or a meet, screaming as if she knew what was going on. Sharing stories, or simply enjoying their laughter, she treasured every moment with them. Her role as their grandmother brought her immense pride and happiness, and her unconditional love and support will forever be a cherished part of their lives.
She dedicated over 30 years of her career to Cooper Hospital, where her unwavering commitment, expertise, and compassionate care touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues alike, leaving an enduring legacy of professionalism, kindness, and excellence.
Luz could be found spending her free time at her home, enjoying her small garden of tomatoes, pumpkins, squash, beans, and cabbage. She loved to travel and experience life with family, and friends. She appreciated great food, great drinks, great music, and being around her loved ones.
You can always find her either sitting by the firepit or on her porch listening to her windchimes, and gazing at her homegrown variety of flowers and plants. Her commitment to her loved ones and her zest for life were among her greatest accomplishments, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her. Luz was a kind, thoughtful, and gentle soul who radiated positivity and always saw the bright side of life. Her door was always open, and she warmly embraced everyone who crossed her path with love and generosity.
Luz is survived by her daughter, Yolanda and husband, David Rivera; and her three grandsons, David Dayne, Dominic Roman, and Darius Jace. She is also survived by her sisters, Dalia M. Pagan, Noemi Pagan, Carmen I. Pagan, Luz D. Perez, Sonia I. Casillas, Marisol Casillas, Margarita Casillas, and Damaris Casillas; as well as her brothers, Hector Ramirez, Dionisio Pagan, and Enrique Pagan.
Luz is preceded in death by her cherished siblings, Wilberto Pagan, and Carmen Iris Sotero with whom she shared a lifetime of love and unforgettable memories. Their absence was deeply felt, but their spirits remained a constant source of inspiration and comfort to her.
Luz 's warmth and love will be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, on Wednesday, November 27th from 1 pm to 3 pm. A prayer service will begin at 3 pm.
