Margaret "Peg" Nicholson's Obituary
Margaret “Peg” Nicholson (nee Meehan), age 87, of Maple Shade and North Wildwood, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 21, 2025, with her beloved daughter & son-in-law by her side.
Born in Philadelphia to the late Thomas and Mary Ellen Meehan, Peg was a proud and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, James B. Nicholson; her son, James P. Nicholson; and her siblings, Regina Meehan, Thomas (Leo) Meehan, Joseph Meehan, Mary Wadsworth, Paul Meehan, Jack Meehan, Jean Quirk & Elaine Dodds.
Peg is survived by her loving daughter, Rose Sample (David); her cherished grandchildren, David Sample (Becca Walter), Shea Sample (Jonathan Mahoney), Ryan Nicholson, and Patrick Nicholson; and her adored great-grandchildren, Lane & Magnolia Sample and daughter-in-law Peg Nicholson.
Peg dedicated many years of service as a Branch Chief for Defense Logistics Agency under the Department of Defense. She began her career as a secretary. She was promoted to Contract Specialist & finally Branch Chief which was the highest rank attainable by a civilian working in the federal government. She was known for her sharp mind, strong work ethic, and unwavering dedication.
She found great joy in spending her summers in North Wildwood. She loved visits to the casino & playing Bingo. She cherished time spent with her family & friends. A woman of faith, Peg was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Peg’s life on Monday, 4/28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 4/29 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 East Main Street. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Cape May County Veteran’s Cemetery.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
