Marjorie Sue Buckley's Obituary
Marjorie “Marge” Sue Buckley, 80, passed away on December 20, 2015 at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ with her best friend and beloved Husband, Dr. Vernon C. Buckley, by her side.
Marge was born on September 27, 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Dr. Howard “HO” and Alice (Broadbent) Messmore.
Marge grew up in Ada, Michigan in a home next to the Ada covered bridge, both of which are still there today, and lived in Michigan through her years at Michigan State. Marjorie was introduced to Vernon by her Father who was Chief of Staff at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital where Vernon was Interning. Their first date was a movie, “Friendly Persuasion” and it wasn’t long after that Vernon asked Howard for permission to marry his daughter. Marjorie married Vernon on July 11, 1958 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and remained happily married until her passing.
Marjorie was strong, independent, funny and generous. She was extremely artistic and talented, expressing her creativity through painting, sewing, various arts and crafts mediums too numerous to list as well as making costumes for her children’s school plays and Halloween. She also loved to remodel and decorate and her loving touch could be felt in every room in her home.
When her children reached their teens, Marjorie decided she wanted to work, expressing her creativity at a florist shop and eventually taking a job at ACME.
Marjorie loved animals and at any given time there was a combination of dogs, cats, birds and the occasional horse to be found at her home. She also loved cooking, costume jewelry, watches and clocks, mail order catalogs, crossword puzzles, a funny joke, collecting funny greeting cards, Law & Order, being a Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother. Most of all, she loved her Husband Vernon.
Marjorie is survived by her Husband, Vernon of Cinnaminson, NJ, her Son Jeffrey of Mt. Laurel; NJ, Daughter Jennifer (Jim) Potter of Blakeslee PA; Daughter Pamela (Mark) Little of Marlton, NJ; Daughter Suzanne of Shamong, NJ; Her sister Barbara Messmore of Walnut Creek, California; Her Brother Larry (Fran) Messmore of Naples, Florida; Her grandchildren Christina (Andrew) Kuppler; Madeline Little; Rebecca Little; Zachary Little; Jimmy Potter; great-grandchildren Kayla Fillman; Guilianna Kuppler; Andrew James “AJ” Kuppler; Cousin Christine (Bob) Gillian.
