I wish I had seen this much sooner. I worked for Mark at his salon, a Mark of Beauty, while studying under his mother's tutelage to be a cosmetologist. I didn't know at the time that I had a chronic illness, but I did know I was the best shampoo girl Mark had ever had because he told me so. He was a kind, understanding and wonderful man, and a great employer that I learned a lot from. I was lucky that he was so kind, and I appreciated his kindness so much, I just thought I'd look him up now that we have this amazing way to find people called the internet. I'm so sorry for his family that he left us all so young.I was only 6 years his junior.
Mark was a smart guy! And his mom, who we all knew as Jan, was the best cosmetology instructor and the nicest woman ever. I greatly respect and admire the family left by these two incredible cosmetologists. When I received my license to practice in NJ, I went to work for Jan at her salon in Edgewater, NJ. At least, I think that was the name of the town. I really wish I had been able to reconnect with Mark while he was still with us.
He was so memorable to me not only because of his agreeable disposition and personality but also because of his fairness and caring. Mark, if you are watching over me, thank you for making my teenage years much easier to handle than they would have been without my position at A Mark of Beauty.
You made a difference in my life, and I thank you.
