Martin G. McIntire's Obituary
Martin Glenn McIntire, 82, longtime resident of Mount Laurel, NJ, passed away suddenly on December 7, 2024. Born on January 31, 1942, in Wilkinsburg, PA, he was the beloved son of Martin Howard and Emily (Pavlovic) McIntire, brother of Keith McIntire (Linda) and Dan McIntire (Barbara).
A 1959 graduate of Turtle Creek High School, Martin pursued further studies at Allegheny Tech in Pittsburgh, specializing in electronics. His passion for technology led him to a career with RCA in New Jersey, prompting a move from Pennsylvania. Martin later joined Ultronic Systems as an electronic technician, traveling the country to install computer systems for the stock market.
In 1963, Martin was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving nine months of active duty before joining the National Guard, where he served honorably until 1970. Facing changes in his industry, he made the bold decision to become self-employed. With determination and a backhoe, Martin launched McIntire Excavating, a company that flourished under his hard work and dedication, specializing in excavation and soil testing for engineering projects.
Martin’s personal life was equally full. In 1981, he married, Josephine (Barbadoro) McIntire, of Camden, NJ. Together, they raised three children: Martin Alexander McIntire (Krystal), Dustin Joseph McIntire (Jaime), and Emily Maria Phillips (Jeremiah). His legacy lives on in his six cherished grandchildren: Dustin Jude, Luke Joseph, Leilani Aurora, Penelope Josephine, Annabelle Dawn, and Juliette Cecilia.
Martin was a man of deep love for his community and family. Often seen in his Veterans hat, he treasured weekly dinners at the American Legion, social events with friends, Summer concert series with his family and, most of all, time spent with his children and grandchildren. Martin always made time for his children and was proud to pass down his gift of patience and various life skills.
A celebration of Martin’s life will be held at Givnish Funeral Home in Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, from 10:00am to 12:00pm with his funeral services beginning at 12:00pm. Burial to follow at Monument Cemetery in Edgewater Park, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
