I am someone from a long long time ago; I really really loved him; I met him going to the bar all the time and I didn't care how much older he was than me.
I am so sad hearing about this; I miss him terribly and he was so nice to me; he said I was too young for him.
My name is Kathleen B Joyce Kane from Woodhaven Queens.
I regret not getting in touch with him but I could not remember his last name.
God bless him and God keep him in peace.
I will never forget him.
I met you in 1978 and to this day still remember you and think about you.
Always will love you.
Martin was more than a friend - he was the curmudgeonly old uncle I always wanted but never had. He was generous with his free time whenever I called him with my queries and concerns. When I was feeling down, Martin was there to comfort and reassure me. I enjoyed his humor, his take on life, his colorful NY accent. He was a man from another time and place. I was fortunate to know him. God rest his soul.
If ever the term "Renaissance Man" applied to anyone, it definately described Martin Treu! Certainly "one-of-a-kind" in his outlook on and approach to life, Martin's very existance was predicated on principles, ethics and morality. He had no time for frivilous undertakings. Martin viewed life as it is, not as the wearers of rose-colored glasses wished it to be. Where others talked of "their rights" Martin talked of responsibilities. The simplest tribute I can pay Martin is to say he was a good man, a good citizen, a friend and associate. I will miss you my friend...God speed...rest in peace!
