Mary Linda J. Saldutti's Obituary
Mary Linda Saldutti, 82, passed away January 20th, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of Vincent and Linda Parisi (Cornaglia) born August 7, 1940. Mary Lyn grew up on Wister Street in Germantown, Pennsylvania with her parents, sister Francine and Grandmother "Nonna." It was a childhood built on memories with loved ones, especially time with Nonna in the kitchen. She spent endless summers in Vineland, New Jersey with her aunts, uncles and cousins, working and playing on their family farm. An early encounter with with her future husband, John Saldutti, a native of Nicetown, led to a lifelong bond that only grew during her years at Little Flower High School. The two were married September 30th, 1961 and joyfully celebrated 60 years of marriage in September, 2021. Together, they raised their four children: Maria, Tony, John and Ann in Roxborough off Cliff Road, in a home that quickly became the center point of all family gatherings. Sunday dinner and Christmas Eve were non-negotiable. You were expected to be there & arrive with an appetite. While John worked night-shift as a Corporal for the City of Philadelphia Police Department, Mary Lyn endlessly catered to her children, their cousins, their friends and loved nothing more than having a house full of company. Gatherings went from inside to outside, as summers were full of fun and play in their backyard pool. She had a hand in shaping many lives, from helping care for her grandchildren to being a loving friend to so many. Upon retirement, John & Mary Lyn moved to the home of their dreams in Ocean City, New Jersey. She loved nothing more than her family visiting on the weekends and spending special time there. Each of her children, their families and her great grandchildren, made their own unique memories with her: from the boardwalk, to the beach, to early morning yard sales, to happy hours featuring Frank Sinatra. In 2007, Maria opened a bakery in Marlton, in honor of her mother and everything she stood for in life. Mary Lyn often commuted from Ocean City to help, putting her special touch on the business. She loved interacting with customers and campers in the bakery and at Christmas, even dressed as Mrs. Claus. In the midst of making these memories in the later years of her life, her prodigious strength was on full display. Mary Lyn battled and beat breast cancer three times in a 20-year-period and did so, with a smile on her face.
In 2021, she suffered a catastrophic stroke. Complications from this tragedy led to Alzheimer's, which changed her life and her family's lives forever. While she is now at peace, her legacy lives on through "Maria's Mom's Italian Bakery" and those blessed enough to have her in their lives, will never forget the way she made them feel.
Mary Lyn is survived by her four children, Maria (Fred), Tony (Mercedes), John (Yvonne), Ann (Jay), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she adored. Also, she is survived by her younger sister, Francine (Hank), her two nephews Joseph and Robert and her best friend, Fran McHale.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Monday, January 30th from 9:30am to 11:45am at Givnish’s of Marlton, 398 E. Main Street. Mary Lyn’s funeral Mass will follow at 12:00pm St. Joan of Arc Church. Interment will be private. To share your fondest memory of Mary Lyn please visit Givnish.com
