Mary M. Murawski's Obituary
Mary Magdalen Murawski died September 5, 2018 at the Masonic Home in Burlington, NJ. She was 98.
Mary was born July 14, 1920 in Philadelphia, the only daughter of Joseph and Magdalena Kidon Matonick. She was united in marriage with Edmund Murawski on January 24, 1942 at Saint Mary of Czestochowa in Philadelphia. They lived in Philadelphia and Cornwell Heights, PA before moving to Cinnaminson in 1958.
Mary was a charter member of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish in Cinnaminson, a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Saint Charles’ PTA, SCB Over 50’s Club, where she helped coordinate bus trips, and the K of C women’s group in Delran, NJ. She was artistically talented having painted over 60 works of art and fired a many of pieces of pottery that became gifts to her family and friends. In the 1980’s and 90’s, Mary was a dancer in a senior woman’s group called the “Recycled Teenagers”. They preformed at schools, senior homes and other venues bringing joy and smiles to many. She helped compile and publish a family genealogy of her mother’s family in 1986.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Edmund in 2009, an infant son, her only brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Shirley Matonick, and a nephew, Gregory Matonick.
Mary is survived by three children: Christopher (Jacqueline) of Indianapolis and their children Elizabeth, Matthew and Rebecca; Dennis (Pamela) of Cinnaminson and their children, Catherine, Patricia, Michael and Christine; Dr. Marianne Murawski and her husband Frank Dandrea of Marlton; and 15 great grandchildren with an additional one expected in November.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary’s life on Sunday, Sept. 9th, from 6:30 to 9 PM and Monday morning, Sept. 10th, 9 to 10AM, at Givnish Funeral Home in Cinnaminson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Branch Pike and Pomona Road. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in Mary’s name.
