Mary E. Smith's Obituary
Mary E. Smith (nee McKinney) passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, with her family by her side. Born in Philadelphia on November 2, 1935 to Edward and Mary McKinney, she was 88 years old. Mary was a current resident of Delanco, NJ, and formerly lived in Philadelphia where she raised her family.
Loving mother of Theresa (David) Mattson, Donald E. (Stacy) Smith, and Maryellen (Ken) Bouchet, and the late James M. Smith. Cherished grandmother of Jill (Ryan), Meghan (Jeff), David, Chris, Alex, Leighann, Tyler, Kylie, and great grandchildren Aurora, Hadley and Cecily. Mary is also survived by her sister Terry (Frank) Dolan and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Mary was known for her outgoing personality, ready smile and kind heart. She was happiest when her family was all together. She was always prepared to reach out and engage anyone in need, and to bring a smile to their faces and comforting words or actions. She spent many good times with her sorority, aka “The Church Group”, through the years. She lived the last few years of her life at Brandywine Estates in Moorestown, NJ, where she found new friends and enjoyed playing Bingo.
She was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, serving on several parish committees. Mary was always there to uplift, encourage and support anyone in need. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The Smith family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.
She had many jobs during her life, paid and volunteer. Some of her favorite endeavors were starting the St. Tim’s Swim Team in Philadelphia, creating her own business, MES Services, and working at Anthony Jewelers.
A Mass celebrating the life of Mary Smith will be held on November 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM. At St. Charles Borromeo Church, Cinnaminson, N.J.. Visitations will be available at Givnish Funeral Home, Cinnaminson, NJ, from 9:00 AM to 10:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Charles Borromeo Church or a charity of your choice.
