Miss Sullivan is someone I will always remember as a teacher that had a certain amount of decent intimidation. As a kid in the lower grades the kids not only would look up at the students in the upper grades as larger than life but also at the teachers the same way. Wow...she teaches the old ones. She has to be tough. Well, somehow I managed to get myself into a "double detention" predicament. Mom was upset and Dad pretty much told me that was the last detention I would ever obtain. The following Thursday I showed up for the after school sit down. Miss Sullivan looked at me sternly. She cracked a smile almost as if to start a chuckle and said, "Young man...sit down. I am pretty sure you will not be here again. " I said," Miss Sullivan, I will be here next week. I got two." She said, "In that case, you need to do your home work and realize that this is not acceptable and I am not happy." Then she smiled, started her eyes darting to see who else was there and said. "You will be fine". Miss Sullivan was a good person. Her smile in the picture is genuine and soothing. Thank-you, Miss Sullivan.
