Maureen J. Marella's Obituary
Maureen J. Marella (nee Hess) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the United Methodist Community in Collingswood, NJ, where she was a resident for the last three years.
Born in New York City to Frank and Helen Hess, Maureen was 85 years old. Raised in the Hell’s Kitchen section of New York City, Maureen was also a resident of Edgewater Park and Willingboro, NJ.
She is predeceased by her husband, Robert “Gino” Marella, her son Joseph Marella, and her siblings Lawrence Hess, Francis Hess, Tommy Hess, and Virginia Archer.
Loving mother of Sharon (Michael) Byrne and Valerie (Ed) Jankowski. Cherished Mom-mom to Kelsey Byrne, Kevin (Blaire) Byrne, Joseph (Jackie Davis) Marella, and Gino (Amanda) Marella. Great-grandmother to Seamus, Bristol, and Lyra. Maureen is also survived by her dear cousin Donna Iacobelli.
Maureen enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, painting, playing cards, going out with friends, going to the casino, attending the drama class at United Methodist Community, and especially spending time with her family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held this Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North.
Maureen’s Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m.
Burial will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, NJ.
Her family deeply appreciates the love and support extended during this difficult time.
