Michael V. Kranz's Obituary
Michael V. Kranz, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on August 21, 2024, after a four-year battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Riverside, attended St. Peter’s Grammar School and Holy Cross High School. Mike is a member of Resurrection Parish in Delran and St. Francis Church in Brant Beach, NJ.
He held many jobs in the tri-state area before retiring as Superintendent of Roads and Bridges of Burlington County.
Michael has been a dedicated firefighter and hero in his community for more than five decades. Michael was a life member and past Chief of Riverside Fire Company #1, Station 701. He was a past Burlington County Deputy Fire Coordinator and Member of the Burlington County Hazmat Team, where he was deployed to assist with Hurricane Katrina Rescue and Relief in New Orleans for one month. Michael is a former member of the Riverside Emergency Squad, a life member of the Burlington County Firefighters Association, and a life member of the NJ State Firefighters Association.
Michael's love for the outdoors was as deep as his commitment to his community. He found joy in camping, hiking, and sailing on his sailboat. His adventurous spirit was evident in his love for spending time at his residence on Long Beach Island.
A dedicated husband, loving father, brother, and uncle, Michael is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen Kranz (nee Milewski) of Riverside. He is the father of Melanie Kranz of Riverside, bonus father of Kaelin Coughlin and bonus grandfather of Kadence Coughlin of Burlington. Michael is the brother of Valerie McQuaide of Riverside and uncle to Kelley and Stacy McQuaide. Michael is the brother-in-law of Sharon Mascola of Holt, Michigan, and uncle to Sara, Tre, and Vinnie Mascola. He is the devoted friend of Fred Galdo & his wife, Salli Gordon of Mt. Laurel. Michael is also survived and will be sadly missed by his cousins, friends, and brother firefighters.
Services for Michael will be private. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Riverside Fire Company #1 at PO Box 1, Riverside NJ, 08075.
