I recall having a meeting with Mike in his corner office. It was Ash Wednesday and Mike had gone to church to receive the cross of ashes on his forehead as Lent began. It telegraphed to me that Mike had his spiritual convictions and moral fiber. I admired him for those attributes and qualities that he brought to the workspace. It was always reflected in his leadership and how he related to people.
The ashes however were placed with an amazing smear across Mike’s forehead. The ashes had not been placed with a light touch. He had really been tagged. It looked like warpaint similar to that worn on the cheeks of professional athletes. I smiled to myself seeing how it reminded me of Mike’s drive, fortitude and determination that were integral to his success as a man, father, husband, and friend.
I had the pleasure of working with Marcus and Lisa. It is certain that Mike instilled in them their special qualities.
Our sympathies go out to the entire Lorenz family.
