Michael J. Tufano's Obituary
Michael John Tufano of Marlton, NJ passed peacefully on July 9th. Mike previously lived in Morristown NJ. He was born March 28, 1927 in Port Morris NJ, the son of Enrico and Mary Churchill Tufano. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mary Cifrese Tufano; his children Michael Tufano, Jr. and Jaxie; Diane Jastrzembski and Joseph; and siblings Harry Tufano and Anna Pugsley. He was a devoted grandfather to Nicholas, Katie, Michele, Mary, and Jillian, and great-grandfather to Tessa. He was predeceased by his sisters Theresa Sibilia, Stella Bencivengo, Carmella Doyle, Josephine Rotile, Marie Parente and his brother Sam Tufano.
Mike was a 1945 graduate of Roxbury High School, where he was unanimously elected captain of his football team. He accepted an early graduation to enlist in the Navy, where he proudly served in the Pacific on the USS Maryland. He worked for many years at Ciba-Geigy Corporation in Summit NJ. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter. Most of all he was devoted to his family.
Mike’s graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 14th at Holy Rood Cemetery, 61 Whippany Rd, Morristown, NJ, at 1:00pm.
