Micheline S. Dodson's Obituary
Micheline S. Dodson, of Cinnaminson, N.J. passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Desire and Suzanne (née Bassett) Stalpart, she was 92 years old.
Micheline (Mimi) was raised along with her sister Jacqueline (Coco) on Locust Street in Philadelphia, where they spoke French at home. They were inseparable; enjoying Rittenhouse Square and all that the city had to offer. She was a graduate of The Academy of Notre Dame, where she and Coco made lifelong friends. After attending business school for two years, she worked in a doctor’s office for several years. Mimi met her soon-to-be husband John at a friend’s party and it was love at first sight. Being a true city girl, she never learned to ride a bike but was able to ride tandem if John managed the steering. They were married in 1958 at Saint Patrick's Church in Philadelphia., and spent the next 65 years sharing love, family, friends, good food, and music. They settled in Cinnaminson, NJ where they raised their four children and welcomed ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They made close friends and were active members of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish. While raising four kids, Mimi worked in local retail, making friends along the way. But her home is where she was the happiest, surrounded by friends and family, never missing a birthday, anniversary or milestone to celebrate the people she loved. All were welcome at their house with John making amazing meals and Mimi making everyone at the table feel loved and welcome. The home they made held family gatherings, dinner groups, and parties celebrating their lives together.
Mimi is survived by her daughters Suzanne Calhoun (Chris) and Jeanine Collins (Brett) and her sons John and Tom (Maureen). She was the cherished and very proud Grammy of Sarah Licata (Daniel), Madaleine Calhoun (Taylor Lintecum), Emily Calhoun, Kate Dodson, Molly Dodson, Emma Dodson (Garrett Barker), Thomas Dodson, Maura Dodson, Micheline Collins, and Ruari Collins; and Great Grammy to Callan and Adele Licata. She was the adored Aunt Mimi to Coco’s six children and their families, and a beloved fixture in her neighborhood, where she will be missed. She was predeceased by her husband John, her sister Jacqueline and daughter-in-law Tammy Dodson. Her family is grateful for all of the love and support she has received, especially from her caretaker Julianna Awoonor.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, on Monday November 18th from 10:30-11. A service will begin at 11 am.
