Mildred was truly a brilliant Social Worker at heart for Hahnemann Medical Center for many years and a very involved Community Activist that was a staunch advocate for the downtrodden. She started a food bank for the community and worked with the W.I.C. program and various community programs in the beginning stages and empowered her community.
She enjoyed spending time with family, watching Westerns and soap operas, listening to gospel music, gardening, sewing, reading her Bible, watching the news to stay up to date on current events, attending church services and Eastern Stars Meetings, cooking and baking for family and friends. She has a strong and eternal legacy of always helping others in any way that she could, especially those in need. She wrote and spoke fluent Spanish as she used her bilingual abilities to assist the Puerto Rican community, and those of various cultural backgrounds, as well. She was also very aware of Philadelphia’s Black History Movement and would teacher her children all about it.
