Miriam Zimmerman's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Miriam Zimmerman, a beloved member of our family and community. Miriam left us peacefully at midnight on February 3, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support. Born on November 30, 1936, to Esther Volkwine (nee Drissel), Miriam dedicated her life to her husband, Bob, her children, Robin Brackett (Bob) and John (deceased) along with her three wonderful grandchildren, Sarah Westcoat (David), Emma Kinsley (Patrick) and Michael Parry (Rebecca). She adored her great-grandchildren Lily, Violet and Ronan and was so thrilled to meet baby Ronan before she left us. She touched the lives of so many with her generosity and warmth and leaves behind so many dear friends. No one met Miriam without loving her.
Miriam was known for her compassionate nature and her ability to bring comfort and joy to those around her. None so much as her husband, Bob. She dedicated her life to him through 67 years of marriage. The early years she cheered him on at his softball games and supported all his sporting enthusiasm with love. Miriam and Bob spent their retirement years in Clearwater with dear friends watching the Phillies and their dear friend Joey on the Mets.
Throughout her life, Miriam was actively involved in many community activities holding leadership roles: head of the PTA, church council, Girl Scout leader, Judge of local elections, to mention a few. She was a pillar of charity work in the community working for Aid for Friends delivering meals to the elderly for years.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3101 Tyson Ave. Philadelphia, PA. Visitation 9am-11am, service will be at 11am. A celebration of Life Luncheon will be held at Georgine’s located at 1320 Newport Rd, Bristol PA at 12 noon. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Miriam's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation, 1513 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102, reflecting Miriam's lifelong commitment to making a difference in the world.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us during this difficult time. Miriam's spirit will forever remain in our hearts, and her memory will continue to inspire us every day.
