Muriel A. Goldsmith's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Muriel A. Goldsmith, affectionately known as “Mickey,” announces her passing at the age of 91 on January 2, 2026, in Venice, Florida.
Muriel was born on August 8, 1934, in the Bronx, New York, to William and Shirley Goldsmith. She earned her undergraduate degree from SUNY Plattsburgh in Elementary Education and later received her master’s degree, also in Education.
Muriel dedicated more than 40 years to teaching grades kindergarten through eighth, primarily within the Cinnaminson Township School District, where she was known to many as Mrs. Jarvis. She ran the middle school drama department and was remembered as a fair yet demanding educator who believed strongly in hands-on learning and held her students to high standards of excellence. Even after her retirement, Muriel continued to make a meaningful impact by working with at-risk students at Lighthouse, helping them fulfill their graduation requirements.
Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Mark I. Goldsmith. She is survived by her sons, Eric Heicklen (Dee) and Michael Heicklen (Claire); her step-daughter, Merle Jarvis Huerta (Carlos); her grandson, Brandon Heicklen; and many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren through Merle and Carlos.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14th, at 12:00 p.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North.
Interment will follow at Locustwood Memorial Park in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
