Olga L. Montgomery's Obituary
Olga L. Montgomery (nee Heins), passed away unexpectedly into God’s nearer presence at her home in Mt. Laurel, NJ on Monday, April 5, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Conrad P. Heins, Sr and Olga Krupsky Heins, she was 83 years old.
Olga was the beloved wife of the late Richard Stewart Montgomery for 62 years, until his passing in February of 2021. She was the loving mother of Ken (Mela), Richard (Marybeth), Robert (Kira), and Donna Lewbart (Keith). Cherished grandmother of Mekayla, Mekenzie, Mekenna, Mekelsey, Andrew (Nicolette), Marisa (Ryan O’Malley), Tim, Austin, Trevor, Tyler, and Ryan. Dear sister of Carolyn J. Dahl (late Norman), and her twin brother, the late Dr. Conrad P. Heins, Jr. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss her tremendously also survive Olga.
Olga grew up in South Philadelphia on Gladstone Street where she shared many fond memories with her family, friends and large extended family including many cousins. A graduate of South Philadelphia High School for Girls, she majored in business and secretarial studies. She enjoyed going to the church and high school dances and picnics. She was a beautiful vocalist singing at weddings and even a bit of opera. She enjoyed summers down the Jersey shore and in Point Pleasant, PA.
Olga attended her high school prom with the love of her life, Rich, whom she would later marry. She worked as an administrative assistant at National Cash Register Corporation (nka NCR) and several other organizations throughout Philadelphia and South Jersey.
Olga married Rich and they began their wonderful love story. They originally settled in Drexel Hill, PA and later moved to West Collingswood and eventually Willingboro, NJ. The family lived in Willingboro for nearly 30 years. Olga focused her time on raising her 4 active children - including a set of twins. She supported her children in many activities with in Willingboro: both a Brownie and Cub Scout leader, Cheerleading and Football Booster Clubs, PTA, field trip chaperone and room mother. Olga also supported many neighborhood charities, leading efforts for the March of Dimes, Ronald McDonald charities and the American Cancer Society.
Once the children entered school, she worked as a salesperson at Pomeroy's Department Store in the Willingboro Plaza and later a secretary in the attendance office at JFK High School and eventually an Executive Assistant for the Athletic Director for Willingboro Public Schools. It was here, after over 25 years of service, where she joined Rich in retirement to Mt. Laurel, NJ.
Mom and Dad loved cheering for their children and later their grandchildren in their sports and activities. Mom-Mom joined Pop-Pop in being their biggest supporters and most loyal fans. Neither a cane, nor a walker nor a wheelchair could keep her away!
Olga, a member of the Collingswood Order of the Eastern Star, later served as a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir at Christ The King Episcopal Church, Willingboro, and then an outreach volunteer at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Burlington. Mom made prayer quilts and worked at the soup kitchen. Olga was also an accomplished knitter and made beautiful hats, booties and blankets for her grandkids and all other little babies that connected to her life. She loved the babies, so 20 hours of work was a labor of love. Olga recently began making hats for babies suffering from cancer at St. Jude's Hospital for Children. Mom also loved her angels and butterflies.
The South Jersey Shore was a favorite family vacation spot along with the Island of Aruba. Olga and Rich also enjoyed vacationing with Carolyn & Norm and cruising with Mary & Gene. Olga loved her Cousins Club parties, and her PTA ladies group that met regularly for meals and laughs for 40 plus years. Olga was a wonderful cook and famous for her meatballs & sauce, sausage soup, kapusta & kielbasa, stuffed cabbage (pigs in the blanket), Christmas seafood chowder and Poorman's SpiceCake.
Mom (Mom-Mom) was truly our angel on earth and we will miss her dearly. Her beautiful smile, the sparkle in her blue eyes and her kindness for others, will live on in our hearts forever. Nostrovia Oligchka!
Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions at the church in NJ, services will be private to the family.
