Owen A. Chang, M.D.'s Obituary
Owen A. Chang, M.D., 85, of Pennsauken, went home to be with the Lord, on Monday, August 3, 2015.
Born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies, he lived and raised his family in Cinnaminson, NJ, before moving to Moorestown in 1992 and later Pennsauken. Despite a ten-year battle with cancer, he lived life to the fullest.
Dr. Chang was an alumnus of Jefferson Medical College, Class of ’56. He interned at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ, served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, 1957 -1959, and opened a solo, private, family practice in 1959 in Cinnaminson.
Owen was a daily communicant and lifelong, active parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Cinnaminson, an active member of the Holy Name Society of St. Charles Borromeo, and an active Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. John Neumann Council 1436, Delran. He also sang in the Filipino Choir at St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth Ann and his parents Lucille and George Chang. He is survived by his loving sons and daughters, Rev. John Chang, Robert Chang, Owen Chang and his wife Kim, Anita Monaghan and her husband Joe, Kathy Chang and her husband Dave Howard, Joanne and her husband Pat Lubin, James Chang and his wife Peggi Hunter, and Michael Chang and his wife Jennifer, his beloved grandchildren, Jenny, Patrick, and Ian Lubin, Keri and Thomas Peacock, Gabriel, Sarah, and Micah Hunter-Chang, Lucas and Julia Howard, Liza Chang, and Connor and Spencer Chang , and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Owen’s life celebration Friday 6:30-9:30 pm and Saturday 9-10:30 am at Snover/Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Rte. 130 N. His Funeral Mass will follow, at 11 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Branch Pike and Pomona Rd., Cinnaminson, NJ 08077. Interment in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
