Patrick R. Colau's Obituary
Patrick R. Colau, of Moorestown, NJ, passed away on August 24th at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Barbara; his two children, Robert (Gina) and Laura (Tim); five grandchildren; his brother, Andrew (Jennifer); his sister-in-law, Joan; his brother-in-law, Roger (Julie); three nieces and one nephew; and many wonderful friends.
Born in Belgium in 1945 but raised in England by his beloved schoolteacher mother (Peggy), Pat grew up with a strong work ethic that helped him graduate with first class honors in Chemistry from the University of Salford and earn a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Manchester.
Early in his career, his talents were spotted by the Rohm & Haas Company, where he worked for over 20 years, first in the laboratories in the south of France and then at various locations on the east coast of the US, until he retired in 2001 from his position as Senior Vice President of Performance Polymers at the head office in Philadelphia.
Pat spent his well-earned, long retirement traveling with his wife; gathering, celebrating, and vacationing with his children and grandchildren; golfing and enjoying time with friends; playing the guitar; and visiting family in England.
Pat was a caring, intelligent, and hardworking husband, father, grandfather, and friend. A quiet man of integrity and good humor, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at the Riverton Country Club in Cinnaminson, NJ on Friday, September 6th at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pat's memory may be made to the Samaritan Hospice Gift Processing Center, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia, PA 19176-1425 (or online at www.SamaritanNJ.org/Donate).
