Patrick Neville Turner's Obituary
Patrick Neville Turner, born on May 17th 1940 in Georgetown, Guyana, to the late Forbes Turner and the late Victoria Cordis, passed away on August 25th, 2024 at age 84 in Far Rockaway, NY.
Patrick, raised in Craig, East Bank Demerara, met his beloved wife, Waveney Adams (aka Uranie Barrow), in Grove, East Bank Demerara in 1958. The two teenagers, embarked on life’s journey together, moved to Linden, Guyana, where they started and raised their family. Their union produced and raised 9 children of their own and countless nephews, nieces, and neighborhood children. Patrick began his career working at Demerara Bauxite Company (DEMBA), later remained Guymine. There he honed his craft as a Journeyman and skilled carpenter, progressing through to General Foreman. In 1982, while Guyana was experiencing an economic crisis. Patrick made a conscious decision to leave it all behind and migrated to the United States.
Patrick was the cherished father of Denise, O’Neil, Neville, Jacqueline, Ulee, Alexis, Simone, Devon, and the late Gavin Turner. He was the Father-in-Law of Yvette, Michelle, Ian, Kenneth and Esther. He was the proud grandfather of Gregory, Brooke, Deborah, Folasade, O’Neil Jr., O’Ryan, O’Sean, Eike, Eric, Jada, Jordan, Kaylee, Keshawn, Crystal, Britney, Amya, Halle, Devon, Jr., Darrell and Dewayne. He was the great-grandfather of Andrew, Henry, Azaiah, Nova, Ezra, Azai, and Tori. He was the last surviving member of his eight siblings Beatrice Adridge (Auntie Burn), Josephine Douglas (Auntie Baby), Jobe Smith (Uncle Jobe), James Hubbard (Uncle Baba), Edmond Cordis (Uncle Buddy), Shirley Williams (Auntie Jean), and Mavis Turner (Auntie MayMay).
Though gone from this earth, Patrick will live on in the hearts of many; not only by his immediate family but a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and neighborhood children.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering on Friday, September 6th, from 3:00-5:00 pm at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, with a funeral service to follow at 5:00 pm. Immediately following the service, guests are invited to a Repass at 2308 Mt Holly Rd, Burlington, NJ 08016. A final viewing will be held on Saturday, September 7th, from 1:00-1:45 pm at the funeral home, followed by burial at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson at 2:00 pm.
