Peter Justin Hill's Obituary
Peter Justin Hill, of Haddon Heights NJ, passed away suddenly on October 15, 2019. Peter was just 50 years old.
Born in Philadelphia PA in 1969 he was the son of Judge William David and Kathleen Hill who predeceased him. Peter grew up in Willingboro NJ where he went to St. Joseph’s, Holy Cross HS, and Willingboro HS. A gentle giant he was active in athletics in junior H.S. and high school being a successful wrestler on his school teams, he was also involved in track and field as a shot putter. Pete had always been adventurous, outgoing, and gregarious with an open loving heart. As a young man he loved participating in the midnight Rocky Horror Picture Show at the TLA in Philadelphia for years, attending live shows at Trenton’s “City Gardens” where he loved to stage dive and his exuberant dances cleared a path through the mosh pits, while the Ramones, X and other bands played. He loved riding and maintaining his bicycle, as well as his Land Rover going on muddy adventures.
Peter had many talents and interests, including his love of woodworking and pottery. He was an admirer of the finer things in life, whether it be art, music, food, or travel; he had an eye for beauty and shared this with his family. Peter was a fair, compassionate, and thoughtful person who always put others before himself, especially his family, who were the center of his life. He was proud of his daughters and their many accomplishments, supporting and encouraging them in school and all their activities. An extremely sentimental man he loved and was involved with his immediate family, and his extended family - which includes DJ Alexander, who was like a son to him, as well as his parents, siblings, and his many nieces and nephews. He was deeply engaged with his children at all levels and could be seen proudly donning and showing off handmade jewelry crafted with love from his daughter Sophia, as well as engaging in philosophical debates into the deep hours of the night with his daughter Gianna. He was good natured, and decent to the core, he was full of wit, humor and loved to laugh. The house was often filled with his distinctive hearty belly laugh as Pete and his best friend, and the love of his life, Gina found humor together in the happenings of everyday life. He never took himself too seriously and would always make the best of any situation. But what he did take seriously was his unyielding love for Gina and the girls. If there was ever a good man, it was Peter.
Peter was the beloved husband of Mary Gina (nee Aloisio) for 24 years. Together they have two beautiful and talented daughters, Mary Gianna and Sophia Kathleen. Peter is also survived by his four siblings and their spouses: Dr. William David Hill II and his wife Patricia of Charleston SC, Patricia Ellen Grim and her husband Thomas of Augusta GA, John R. R. Hill and his wife Michele of Mullica Hill NJ, Thomas Andrew C. Hill and his wife Alison of Maple Shade NJ. Peter leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will miss him tremendously.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, October 20th, from 3 – 6 pm at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 N. His funeral Mass will be on Monday, October 21st, at 10 am at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 300 E. Kings Highway, Haddon Heights, NJ. Interment will follow in Jesus Bread of Life cemetery.
