Philip M. Martyn's Obituary
Philip Martyn “Phil” aka “The Gramps”11/21/1940 – 11/11/2024, Cinnaminson, NJ.
Passed peacefully on November 11, 2024. Phil, loving husband of Linda (Uber), Father of Michael (Ann Marie) and Kevin (Alexandra). Grandfather to Michael Griffith (Lilly), Colleen Rhiannon, Dylan Patrick and Sarah Ann. Phil was preceded in death by his brother George and sister Margret / Mickey (nee, Wheeler).
Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Cherry Hill, NJ to George and Sarah Martyn (nee Brown). Philip was a proud member of Bishop Eustace’s first graduating class. Phil then earned his Bachelor’s Degree from St Joseph’s University and became a lifelong fan of the St. Joe’s Hawks basketball team. Phil began his career with FMC corporation as a Lab technician. His career then took a focus within the packaging machinery and equipment industry. He was part of several organizations over his career, finally retiring from Thermo-Automation in 2005. In the mid 80’s, along with a business partner, Phil founded American Garvens Corporation, a packaging machinery import and distribution business located in Delran, New Jersey. This business was successful and eventually acquired.
Phil loved his wife Linda and was dedicated to her for 55 years of marriage. He loved spending time with the family at the shore in Sea Isle City as well as at home. Phil loved running errands for Linda, going out to eat, and had a passion for politics. Phil loved cars and throughout his life you could have any car you wanted as long as it was a Ford! 😊 Phil’s November 2024 passing was timely as it was Veteran’s Day, (he was an Army reservist), the Presidential Election was over and maybe most importantly the Eagles beat Dallas!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be planned in the coming months.
