Placido J. Villari's Obituary
Placido J. Villari, affectionately known as “Broske,” passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, Placido was 92 years old. He was a lifelong resident of Palmyra, from 1922 through 2015 and he was a graduate of Palmyra High School. After graduation, Placido joined the US Marine Corps and proudly served our country during WWII, achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. After the war, he and his family founded Villari’s Milmarian Restaurant on Route 73 in Palmyra, NJ retiring in 1997.
Placido enjoyed spending time with his family, and playing golf at Riverton Country Club, where he was a 50 year life time member. Placido also was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Palmyra. Placido was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Church, and was a Retreat Captain for over 50 years at San Alphonso Retreat house in Long Branch, NJ
Placido was an avid Eagles fan, and has held season tickets since 1948, and attended the first Eagle NFL Championship with his father, when the Eagles defeated the Chicago Cardinal 7-0. Years later Placido was honored by the Philadelphia Eagles as one of the longest tenured Season ticket holder in 2013. Beloved husband of the late Concetta A. "Connie" (nee Botto). Loving father of Linda V. Ward (her husband John), Paul (Pam) Villari, Vincent (his former wife Mia Lizzi ) and John R. (Jan C.) Villari.
Brother of Mary Altopiedi, Ann Catanzariti, John Villari, the late Mildred Vinci, the late Joseph Villari and the late Paul Villari. Devoted grandfather of John Lawrence, Meghan, Brian, Michael, Stephen, Alex, James, Andrew, Julia, Austin and Makenna. Great grandfather of Ryan Elizabeth, John Joseph (J.J.) and Owen Michael.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Placido’ s viewing and life celebration Wednesday, September 30, 2015, starting 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church 103 4th St. Riverton, NJ 08077. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow, with Military Honors, at Lakeview Memorial Park.
