Rafael Morales' Obituary
Rafael Morales, affectionately known as "Ralph" or "Jake," passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in San Turce, Puerto Rico, on October 24, 1951, to the late San Florentino and Mercedes Morales. Ralph was the cherished husband of Ruth Morales (nee Algarin) and a devoted father to Diane Slaughter (Tom), Kimberly Cooper (Douglas), and Alice DeJuana Morales. He was a loving grandfather to Jake, Ryan, Benjamin, Devon, Brooke, and Christian, and a proud great-grandfather to Gia. He is also survived by his brother Clemente "Rocky" and will be remembered alongside the late Rachel Morales Colon and the late Lewis Castillo. Ralph's warm heart and vibrant spirit endeared him to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Born as the youngest of four siblings, Ralph was raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he developed a strong sense of family and community. In 1989, he and his beloved wife, Ruth, along with their two daughters, relocated to Mount Laurel, NJ. Ralph dedicated many years of his life to his work as a telephone technician for Verizon, serving communities in both New York and New Jersey. He found joy in life's simple pleasures and took solace in his favorite daytime TV shows. His infectious sense of humor and easygoing nature endeared him to everyone he met.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Givnish of Marlton on Monday, November 6th from 10-12:00pm to celebrate Ralph's life, followed by a heartfelt funeral service at 12:00pm. His final resting place will be at Brigadier Wm. C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ, where he will receive burial and military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Ralph's name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, StJude.org, to continue his legacy of kindness and compassion. Ralph Morales will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
