Raymond William Luman's Obituary
Raymond William Luman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and World War II veteran, passed away peacefully on the evening of February 26th. Raymond Luman was born in Georgia, Vermont on August 4, 1925. He lived on a picturesque New England farm with his parents and siblings. As a teenager he was drafted into the army and was soon stationed in Germany to fight in World War II. During his time at war he fought in iconic battles, such as the legendary Battle of the Bulge. However, his most life changing experience during the war was meeting Helga, the young German woman who would become his beloved wife. After living together in Germany for some time, Raymond and Helga moved to America with their two children. Raymond Luman lived in Willingboro, NJ from 1969 until his death. Besides World War II, Raymond also served his country in Korea. Raymond and Helga enjoyed a wonderful life together. During their retirement they spent fifteen winters in Hawaii, and enjoyed numerous vacations through Australia and Europe. On February 12th of this year Ray and Helga celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Raymond Luman is lovingly remembered, and survived, by his wife Helga, his son Klaus, his daughter Sandy, and a number of adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Raymond’s life celebration gathering at Snover/Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Rte. 130 N., on Monday March 2nd, from 3 pm – 5 pm. His funeral Mass will be on Tuesday at 1 pm at Corpus Christi Parish, 11 South Sunset Rd., Willingboro. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond's name may be made to the National Military Family Association www.militaryfamily.org.
