Richard D. Humes' Obituary
Richard D. Humes, 82, a resident of Mount Laurel and formerly a longtime resident of Moorestown, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026. Born in Moorestown, NJ, he was the son of the late James and Velma Humes (nee Kidwell).
Richard was the beloved husband of the late Barbara J. Humes and the cherished partner of Theresa Carlin. He was a devoted father to David Humes (Terry), Richard Humes (Missy), and Christopher Humes (Linda). Loving grandfather to David, Rachael, Alex, Sean, Barbara, and John, and proud great-grandfather to Scottie Alexis. He is also survived by his sisters, Velma Allen, Roberta Sands, and Linda Blackson, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Richard was a lifelong connection to Moorestown, where he was raised and later raised his own family. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Over the years, he held various positions, including with Surfacing Systems, Campbell Soup Company, and most recently with Access Link, where he dedicated the past 17 years of service. Richard was also a member of the Moorestown American Legion Post 42.
He had a love for travel and making memories with those closest to him. Whether spending time at the beach in Ship Bottom with his family or enjoying cruises, one of his most treasured experiences was a trip to Ireland that he won. Richard also found great joy in hosting friends and family, often entertaining in the back bar of his home, where laughter and good times were always shared.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Moorestown Community House, 16 E. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Please go to the "Grand Ballroom".
