Richard E. Lorenz Jr.'s Obituary
Richard E. Lorenz, Jr., 65, of Pennsauken, NJ returned to the heavenly kingdom to be at peace with Our Lord on May 26, 2021, having spent his last days surrounded by the warmth and care of his dedicated, loving family who were beside him as he received the Holy Sacraments of Baptism and His Last Rites were read, as if he knew to wait for them before going to rest.
He is survived by his wife Marge; his father Richard Sr.; his brother Thomas Lorenz (Judy) and sister Virgina Kruzewski; his children Richard III & Maryann (Sean) McGovern, as well as the many grandchildren he cherished: Richard Lorenz IV, Breanna McGovern, Sean McGovern Jr. and Kylie Lorenz. Rich was predeceased by his mother, Irene (nee Tomlinson).
Originally of E. Sergeant Street in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, Rich was born to Richard Sr. & Irene Lorenz on August 25th, 1955. There he grew up there alongside his siblings Thomas and Virginia. After attending Mastbaum Vocational, he worked for the American Red Cross for most of his life where he left a lasting impression, reluctantly leaving to the dismay of many, to foster his health.
Rich will always be alive in the memory of the people who were lucky enough to cross his path and experience his fun and warm nature: it didn’t matter who you were, where you were from, what creed or color you were, he made you feel welcome. Margaret Lorenz (formerly Wiley) was the one who knew this best of all, falling in love with her best friend at the age of 18 and spending 43 years in what she can only describe as “what a marriage should be”. Raising together two children they are incredibly proud of, Richie and Marsie. It was this true love that allowed them to not only find strength through all that life threw at Rich -- but most importantly, enjoy what mattered most: family and creating lasting memories at the shore. Its where Rich enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and relaxing with his favorite beers, after all.
His life and legacy will be celebrated with a gathering of family and friends at Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 East Main Street, on Wednesday, June 2, from 10 – 11 am, with a service beginning at 11 am.
