Richard James Sweet, a resident of Southampton NJ passed away after a long illness on January 6, 2022. Beloved husband of Mary Ann (nee Furnari) Sweet. Dear father of James R. Sweet and his wife Valerie of Shamong NJ. Very proud grandfather of Kayla Sweet and Eliza Sweet. Richard is also survived by his brother Robert E. Sweet and his wife Sharon of Las Vegas NV along with several nieces and nephews.
Richard was born in Hoboken NJ and raised in Tenafly NJ and a graduate of Tenafly High School. Son of Lester R. and Alice G. (nee Smith) Sweet. Richard met his future wife, Mary Ann Furnari, while they were co-workers at Prentiss Hall Book Publishers. They married in 1959 and were together for 40 years until her passing in 1999.
Richard will be buried with his wife on Monday, January 10th at Glenwood Cemetery in Vernon NJ. Services will be private.
