Rita T. Hamilton's Obituary
Rita T. Hamilton, of Moorestown, Philadelphia, and Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2020. Born in Philadelphia to the late James W. and Rita B. Hamilton, she was 63 years old.
Rita was a vital part of the Hamilton Dance Legacy, along with her father, mother, and brother. She carried the teaching and performing tradition forward. Hamilton Dance taught thousands of students from the 1930’s forward till this year. This was a life that touched so many, and for some, their only chance to be on the stage. She graduated from DeSales University’s theater and speech department, and moved to New York where she established Hamilton Dance. She started studying with Brenda Bufalino, performing her work on numerous stages. She will always be remembered as a brilliant teacher.
Rita was the beloved sister of James W. Hamilton, Jr. and his wife Susan. Cherished aunt of Andrew and Matthew Hamilton. She was predeceased by her brother, John P. Hamilton. Rita leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
