Rita D. Sonntag's Obituary
Rita D. Sonntag (nee DeFrancesco) passed away peacefully on September 10, 2015 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ surrounded by her family. Born in Philadelphia to Italian immigrants, Rita was 83 years old. She was a resident of Cinnaminson since 1961.
Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Sonntag. Loving mother of Deborah Lynn (Richard, deceased) Tredinnick, Robert Michael (Mary Catherine) Sonntag, Andrew C. Sonntag and Steven F. Sonntag. Cherished grandmother of Julia, Richard, Michael and Sarah.
Rita’s life was dedicated to serving others, even outside of her family. She worked in the nursing field her entire career, not only caring for patients but also helping to educate young nurses. She was an instructor at institutions like Lourdes in Camden and Burlington County College. In the 1990’s she served as Director of the School of Nursing at Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia.
Friends and relatives are invited to Rita's Life Celebration Saturday, September 19th, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church (Broad St. and Morgan Ave., Palmyra, NJ 08065), where she was a devoted and active member for more than five decades. Her Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the
Memorial Fund of the Bethany Lutheran Church.
