Robert J. Furbee Sr.'s Obituary
Robert J. Furbee Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024. Born on January 23, 1936 to the late Franklin Davis and Sarah Anne Furbee in Wilmington, DE. He was the devoted husband to the late Alice J. Furbee (nee Elder) for 59 years before her passing in 2016. Dear father to Teresa Springer (Jim), Annette Wagner (Walt), Mary-ellen Minkoff (Joel), Robert Furbee (Sharon), and Janice Mazza (Steve). Proud grandfather to 11 and great-grandfather to one. Robert was primarily raised in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia and attended Northeast Catholic High School. He also spent time traveling for his father’s military career and with his extended family in Grafton, West Virginia, throughout his childhood. He started his career at RCA which led to him putting down roots in Cinnaminson, NJ. He also worked at Univac and retired in a senior management information technology role with Atlantic City Electric. He was a proud member and former Grand Knight and Financial Secretary of the Knights of Columbus Council 12592 Our Lady Queen of Peace. Bob was an important member of their council and served as an officer for more than 20 years. He enjoyed summers spent at Meadowbrook Swim Club, volunteering at the St. Charles Borromeo carnival, traveling whether it be for work, play, or an impromptu history lesson, being an eucharist minister alongside Alice at Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Charles Borromeo, and so much more. Robert will be remembered by his love for the Phillies and Eagles and missed dearly by his feline companion Boots and his Friday night card group. A memorial mass for Bob will be held on July 12th at 11AM ET at St. Charles Borromeo in Cinnaminson, NJ.
