Robert Harris' Obituary
Robert “Bob” Harris passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2021 in Cherry Hill. Born and raised in West Philadelphia to Rudolph and Frances Harris, Bob was 83 years old. He lived in Maple Shade, New Jersey for a number of years and was most recently a resident of Leisuretown, New Jersey.
Bob was a proud graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia - Class of 1956. He served his country in the USAir Force and was stationed in England, Germany, and Tripoli in the late 1950s.
In his first career after the Air Force, he was a school teacher and coached swimming, track and field, basketball, and football. He started several catholic youth sports programs in South Jersey in the 1960s. Beginning in the mid-1970s, he worked as an Elvis Impersonator and entertainment promoter. In his third career, he was a nurse who took traveling assignments throughout the United States.
He was a huge Phillies fan, Elvis fan, and an avid reader. He found humor in serious situations and never missed an opportunity to embellish a story for dramatic effect.
Beloved father of Deborah Bruce, William (Dianne) Harris, Robert (Teresa) Harris, and Richard (Amy) Harris. Grandfather of nine grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Raymond (Carol) Harris.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday from 10 -11 a.m. at Givnish of Maple Shade. His Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m.
Interment with Military Honors, will take place at Colestown Cemetery.
