Jeanette and family, so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Also sorry we did not know of his funeral till after it was over. Bob was a gentle and kind man and so proud of his family. Our sincere condolences to you and your dear family. Jane and Dave White

You and your family have my sincere condolences.
Bob and I were in the same class at La Salle High School in Philadelphia. We had similar interests, mainly football (Bob was better at it than I). After graduation, we did not see each other for more than 50 years until we began a routine of monthly lunches.
At those lunches, Bob and I discovered that we had another common denominator -- we both served aboard the good ship, USS Valley Forge, albeit at different time periods and Bob in the Navy and I in the Marines. We were comrades at arms.
"I am sorry for your loss," is not enough. I prefer "Ave Atque Vale," the ancient Roman salute meaning, "Hail and Farewell."
