Robert Donald "Bob" Lobe of Delran, NJ, passed away peacefully February 5, 2014 at Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell with his family at his side following a brief illness. He was 81. He was born November 20, 1932 in Philadelphia to Mae and Otto Lobe, who both preceded him in death.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Bob was married for 57 years to the true love of his life, Barbara L. Lobe (nee Hallowell,), who survives him. The two met at a wedding in 1955; Bob an usher and Barbara a bridesmaid. They were engaged that Christmas and married the following September.
Together, in Delran, they raised three children who also survive him: Leslie A. Follebout (Roger) of Salisbury, Maryland; Robert W. Lobe (Debora) of Erial, NJ and Glenn D. Lobe of Delran. Bob was also a loving grandfather to and leaves behind five grandchildren: Roger A. Follebout, III, Lauren L. Follebout, Heather V. Divers, Lindsey A. Lobe and Robert P. Lobe . He is also survived by great grandson Emmett L. Divers, a sister, Doris Gillespie, nephews Brian Gillespie (Sarah) and Kevin Gillespie (Donna) and a great number of loved friends.
Bob was employed by the Keebler Company for 44 years, many as a District Manager serving customers in the South Jersey region. Later in life, following his retirement from Keebler, he worked part-time for Proctor and Gamble. Bob was also a veteran of the US Army, proudly serving his nation during the Korean War while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
Bob lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He was an avid and accomplished golfer and member of the Medford Lakes Country Club for a number of years. Bob and Barb also loved to travel and particularly to cruise, visiting most of the 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii and many international countries like Tahiti, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, and a number of Caribbean nations.
For over 30 years, Bob and Barb were members of the First United Methodist Church of Moorestown, NJ. A celebration of Bob's life will be held there on Saturday, March 8. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. with a service immediately following. Interment will be private in the church's memorial garden. First United Methodist Church is located at 446 E.Camden Avenue, Moorestown, NJ 08057.
