You sit back and wonder how you can possibly tell someone just how important and significant he has been throughout your life. That is the case with Ronald Gebhardt -- a truly beloved, lifelong friend who meant so much to me.
Ron and I met in grade school and became the best of friends. That friendship lasted throughout our lives. We were on the grade school football team, played trumpets together and continued our close friendship though high school, college and were each others best man at our weddings. The wonderful times Ron and I spent together riding bikes, going to the Carnegie Library, the Buhl Planetarium and so many trips over the Seventh Avenue Bridge to Downtown Pittsburgh are memories that will be with me forever.
By circumstance I was called upon to watch my baby sister for many years mostly during evening hours. Throughout this time, it was Ron who stayed with me almost every night or day that he could. That meant so much to me that I could never repay him for his kindness and devotion to me as a friend.
I will always remember Ron as a caring person who I will always love and respect. I believe it is seldom in life that one is blessed with a friendship like the one between Ron and me. I will forever hold him near and dear in my heart.
With love and prayers for eternal peace dear friend.
