There are no words for how wonderful Uncle Ron was - not only to family, but also to everyone he met. It’s hard to recall a time when Uncle Ron was not in our lives. As the oldest of many of the Spring grandchildren, I was fortunate to have seen him enter into our wonderful Aunt Fran’s life when they began dating. Even as a child I remember they had so much fun together in New York as a young couple, and you could see that behind Uncle Ron’s calm and quiet demeanor a sparkle of humor, a zest for life, and his true love for our Aunt. Many will say that he brought much calm and compassion to the zany Spring family, who were alway running to and fro, but he welcomed us all with open arms and a calming spirit. Uncle Ron also got a kick out of so much - he always enjoyed the wacky stories, weird in-laws (ok, my Dad) and had amazing talent for making everyone feel welcome, no matter how unexpected the situation. As a young adult, making my way in the world, I always found safe harbor. While I love my life in California, it (and COVID too) has kept me from keeping up a long tradition of visits, though it comforts me to know the next generation have been full participants at Uncle Ron’s own creation, “Camp Johnson” every summer — I’ve loved seeing the photos of the splashing and laughing (oh, and the kids too…). We had wanted so much to host Aunt Fran and Uncle Ron on a trip to Monterey, to enjoy the incredible beauty here - but nothing could match the beauty of the life Uncle Ron built with Aunt Fran back in New Jersey, and that gives me comfort. I know he is watching over Aunt Fran, Larisa and Karen - and his lovely grandchildren who cherished him. May we all have as loving and caring a life as he built with them. With heartfelt gratitude, Margy
