Ruth McChesney Fernandez
May 1, 1926 – April 15, 2018
Ruth Fernandez, a lifelong resident of Moorestown, NJ passed peacefully at the age of 91 on Sunday April 15, 2018. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Colleen Hammond (Stephen); her son-in-law Eddie O’Brien; her grandchildren Erin (Ron), Shane, and Noah; and her great grandchildren Carter and Brooke.
Ruth was one of a kind. Full of mischief and young at heart, her incredible personality and unique style brought a smile to everyone she encountered. The homes of loved ones are adorned with her charming and at times humorous cross-stitch. She believed in the power of prayer and her philosophy on life is found in an excerpt from the Gestalt Prayer - “ You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful. If not, it can't be helped.” In beauty and peace she now joins her daughter Christine “Chrissy” O’Brien (Fernandez) and her husband Reyes Fernandez.
Ruth will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests a memorial donation be made to either the Salvation Army, or Lighthouse Hospice located at 1040 Kings Highway N. Suite 100, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
