Salvatore R. Pensabene's Obituary
Salvatore R. “Dick“ Pensabene of Cherry Hill, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024. Born in Philadelphia to the late Samuel M. and Irene Pensabene, he was 87 years old.
Dick was the beloved father of Richard A. Pensabene (Tami) of Telford, PA, and Cynthia A. Headen (Steve) of Ann Arbor, MI; cherished grandpop of Ashley Renae and Joshua Cole Headen. Dick is survived by his brothers F. Robert Pensabene and John T. Pensabene. Dick is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will miss him greatly.
Dick proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard. He was a retired mechanical draftsman having worked as such at RCA, Telesciences (Moorestown, NJ), and Checkpoint Systems (Thorofare, NJ).
Dick liked many sports but his passion was baseball. He loved playing it in his younger years and he also enjoyed teaching it as a coach for Rich’s Little League teams and Cindy’s softball teams. He was a true and loyal Philadelphia Phillies fan.
Dick’s other passion was studying history, especially that of World War II and the airplanes that were used. He went to many air shows and loved to fly. One of the highlights of his life was his one week trip to France for his 80th birthday where he got to visit many historical World War II battle areas including Normandy Beach, Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Omaha Beach, and Pointe du Hoc.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Marlton, 398 East Main Street, on Friday, February 2nd, from 9:00AM to 10:30AM. Dick’s Funeral Mass will follow at 11AM at the Church of St. Joan of Arc (100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton, NJ). Interment, with Military Honors, will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery (260 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ)
