Oh where to begin????!!! Solange was light, joy, laughter, FUN!! She was faith, God, love of Jesus and love of everyone else. She gave me hope, love, and prayer in the middle of severe health challenges. She hosted me as a family of choice for Thanksgiving and treated me like a member of the family. She told me she prayed for me every night on her knees that I'd find a husband. She is an angel now. LOVE YOU!!
She was always so friendly and interested in our lives. I wish I had spent more time talking with her. She will be missed very much. We've planted some flowers around our house in memory of her ❤️
Solange and I worked on designing and writing Alicé and Pax’s wedding ceremony. Sitting in her apartment in Brazil just the two of us - her vivacious smile, enthusiasm for her daughter’s wedding, her desire for a sand ritual to be included, her trust in me to ordain, her love for Alicé’s entire community of people. She was one of us. Total acceptance and celebration for the diversity Alicé and Pax created in their life.
On the phone before leaving for Brazil while writing the script for the ceremony, Alicé said don’t tell me anything, talk to Solange, I trust her to say yes or no to whatever it is.
That relationship tells me everything about who Solange is and will continue to be in the lives she’s touched so deeply.
I’m so glad I got to know and dance with you. I love the daughter you created, the grand daughter who will play with my son, the son in law you loved as your own. May you be at peace.
I'm surprised I don't have more videos and photos of Solange. Her smile was the sun - it shines so bright in my memory. I'll never forget her coming to visit Alicé in New York, bursting with joy and love - a presence that put you at ease, made you feel you belonged. I remember her at Alicé's wedding. I remember her laugh, her warm hugs, how she made me feel. Thank you for giving us, Alicé and Zaya, thank you for gracing the world with your light.
