Stanley Eugene Basara's Obituary
Stanley Eugene Basara, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Delanco, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2017. Born on May 16, 1933, in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia, PA, Stan was the 8th of 11 children. He was very proud of his Polish heritage, born of immigrants Stanley and Mary Basara. He attended Roman Catholic High School and worked his way through St. Joseph’s College while raising a young family, graduating with a BS degree in Physics in 1956. Stan was steadfast in his Catholic faith through his 84 years. He was always willing to offer his helpful advice to many young family members and friends.
Stan began his career with RCA in Camden, NJ. He progressed through various electronics engineering roles, including a transfer to Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and attended the Harvard Advanced Management Program, rising to President of the RCA Broadcast Division. He moved on and up to President and CEO of the Broadcast Divisions of Thomson-CSF and Panasonic, retiring in 1999. He served on the Board of Directors of Technitrol through 2008.
He is survived by Claire, his wife of 63 years, with whom he most enjoyed spending time and celebrating the accomplishments of their large, extended family of 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandson Aaron Price, brother of Megan.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation from 9:00-11:00 AM Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Resurrection Parish/Holy Name Church, 260 Conrow Road, Delran, NJ 08075. Visitation will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, with subsequent Burial at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
