Stephen Fichera Sr.'s Obituary
Stephen ‘Steve” Fichera, Sr., age 92, of Mount Laurel NJ, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He was the loving Son of Salvatore and Catherine (nee Pappalardo) devoted Father to Susan, Steve Jr., Mark and Bruce, Grandfather to Sophia and Sabrina. He is predeceased by his son, Steve Jr. and his four sisters, Bunnie, Faye, Angelina and Delores.
Steve was well known for his upbeat personality that could light up the room. He had a tremendous sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He was also an accomplished athlete who mastered every sport he undertook, whether it was golf, baseball, tennis, ice skating or even bowling where he bowled a perfect ‘300’ point game.
He was president and owner of a successful meat distribution company in South Philadelphia started by his own father upon arriving in this country in the early 1900’s. Steve served his country honorably as a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army. He graduated Upper Darby High School and attended night classes at Temple University.
But most of all, our father will be remembered for his unwavering love for his children, especially for our brother Stephen, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, at Saint Joan of Arc Church, 100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton NJ 08053. Visitation will begin at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM for Stephen, Sr. and Stephen, Jr.
