Steven Paul Yayac's Obituary
Steven Paul Yayac, of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends at the young age of 68. Born in Camden, NJ, he was the son of the late Michael A. and Mildred J. (nee Deuter) Yayac. Steve grew up in Cinnaminson where he attended Sacred Heart and graduated from Holy Cross High School, Class of 1975. After high school, he moved to Riverside to start his family and then returned to Cinnaminson where his roots ran deep.
Steve began his career as a mechanic for over 20 years, where he developed a strong work ethic and a talent for problem solving. Over the years, he continued to grow professionally where he completed many trainings, certifications and other courses as he always wanted to better himself. This led him into future roles as a black belt sigma lean process manager, controller and financial consultant until he retired in 2024. His dedication, adaptability and commitment to his work were evident throughout his career with his many awards he proudly propped in his office.
Home is where Steve’s heart truly lied, he was a father and a “Pop Pop” — and he wore those titles with more pride than any other. He attended countless games, cheered louder than anyone in the stands, and never once hesitated to drop everything to help one of his children or grandchildren with whatever they needed. Old school in the best possible sense, Steve believed that showing up for the people you love was not optional. He did it consistently and with a full heart.
Steve was a devoted father to Amy (Michael) Beirao, Monica (Shawn) Speck, Steven E. (Lauren), and Michael (Hanna). He was a loving “Pop Pop” to Juliana, Sean, Ava, and Astrid, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his siblings: Michael (Susie) Yayac, Robert (Lynn) Yayac, Cathi (Debbie) Yayac, Cindy Yayac, and David Yayac.
Steve had a passion for cooking and would share his talent with friends and family especially during the holidays, most famously known for his “Pepperoni Bread”. He also had many hobbies such as Krav Maga, woodworking, sports, and honestly anything he found interesting that he wanted to learn about. He was a devoted, lifelong Eagles fan which he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends.
He was a fixture in the Cinnaminson community for decades. He was a staple at the panzarotti station at the St. Charles carnival, and served as an announcer for the local Cinnaminson Pop Warner football program for 15 years. He was loyal, present, and genuinely loved by those around him. He lived a life defined by honesty, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to his family, friends and community.
Steve fought his final illness with the same quiet strength he brought to everything in life. The countless friends, family and colleagues that came to his side during this time we are forever grateful to. His family is also grateful for the care he received from the ALS Team and the many nurses and aides who helped him in this difficult journey.
Steve was proud of every single one of his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces/nephews and friends — for the people they were and became, and for the love they showed him until the very end.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Steve’s memory to the Gleason ALS Foundation at TeamGleason.org, in support of those living with ALS and the families who love them. https://teamgleason.app.neoncrm.com/forms/donate
