Sugako Foster's Obituary
Sugako Foster (nee Sasaki), of Maple Shade since 2006, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 22, 2014. She was 88 years old.
Loving wife of George Foster for 64 years, loving mother of Irene Foster-James, Aaron Foster, Roxanna Foster, and Debrah James. Mother-in-law to Mark A. James and Daryl James. Dear grandmother of David Harris, Paul Foster, Andre Foster-James, Aaron Foster, Jr., George Foster, Daryl James, her granddaughter Dominique James, and Mark A. James Jr. Great grandmother of Demetrius King, Paul Jr., Keyon, Parrish and Jayden Foster, Oceana James, Alexandre and Kaiden Foster-James. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Being a homemaker, Sugako ran her household and held her family together. She was an excellent cook, baker, and seamstress. In the 80s, Sugako joined a group of Japanese women and performed traditional Japanese dances throughout the state. She enjoyed traveling back home to Japan every other year to visit her family, and traveling within the United States. She was often found at the bowling alley during tournament season doing her word search books. She enjoyed karaoke and her Japanese club meetings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sugako’s life celebration and gathering at Inglesby/Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 E. Main St., on Saturday, June 28, from 1 – 3 pm. A memorial service will follow at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sugako’s name may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr. Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053, or to the Alzheimer’s Association by visiting www.alz.org.
