Suzanne Barker's Obituary
Suzanne Barker (nee Anderson) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 9, 2025 at the age of 76. Sue was born on April 20,1949 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Robert Anderson and the late Anna Anderson (nee Gross). Beloved mother to Melissa Gallagher (Mark), Maureen Morin (Mike), Kristen Flannery (Steve), and Michael Flannery (Holly). Cherished sister to Dolores Glenn (late Hank), Janet Redmond (late Bob), Tom Anderson (Gloria), Jim Anderson (Sue), Reenie Hartman, the late Maryann Glowacki (late Stan), the late Loretta Mullin (late Gerald) the late Bob Anderson (Eleanor) and the late Joseph Anderson. Loving grandmother to Christian, Julianna, Emma, Connor, Mikayla, Maeve, Brayden, Fionn, Hugh, Hayden and Grayson.
Sue was a proud graduate of Misericordia School of Nursing in 1970 and to all that knew her, it was clear that nursing was her true calling. Sue worked in many areas of nursing, but she found her greatest purpose as a hospice nurse. Her unique gift for compassion touched the lives of everyone she cared for.
Sue devoted her life to her four children and nothing brought her more joy other than her grandchildren. Sue was one of a kind, never without a smile on her face and loved to laugh. She always had time for her family & friends and was caring beyond words. Sue was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, whether it was rooting for the Eagles or cheering on the Phillies, she loved to talk sports.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday September 13, 2025 beginning at 11 AM at 103 4th Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. Immediately following will be a Celebration of Life at The Madison located at 33 Lafayette Street, Riverside, NJ 08075.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sue’s name to either Mary’s Place By the Sea, 22 Main Ave, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 or The Samaritan Center at Voorhees, 265 NJ-73, Voorhees, NJ 08043.
