Theolia E. Smith's Obituary
Earstena Theolia Lucas, more passionately referred to by family and friends as Theolia, was born January 6th 1942 in Charleston South Carolina to Leroy Lucas and Mary Blair Lucas. Around the age of two years old She and her family moved to Manhattan, New York where she would grow up on 146th st and 7th Ave in Harlem NY being the oldest girl of 21 children. She graduated from Junior Richmond High school in Harlem NY in the late 50s. Theolia conceived two children her daughter chontee Robinson and Todd Lucas whom she loved and adored dearly. Theolia had a passion for helping others. She was able to share her sweet caring spirit and warm smile with everyone who came across her path and that always showed in her career path working at Lincoln hospital in the ER department where she met Oscar Smith, and on April 24th 1982 Oscar and Theolia became one. With that marriage she would gain a bonus child Oscar Tee whom she would love and care for as if he were her own. Theolia and her husband went on to live in NYC for many years raising their family. In 1998 theolia would relocate to Rochester NY with her son Todd Lucas and Daughter in law Tonya Lucas and soon after her husband would follow after retiring. In 1999 she gained custody of her granddaughter Joy, in which theolia and her husband adopted her in 2002 making her one of their own children. Becoming a profound member of the church making serval life long friends from the community as well as from Roberto Clemente School No. 8 where she worked as a teachers paraprofessional. In 2011 theolia retired and relocated to Delanco Nj with her sister Hafeezah Jihad, where she would remain until her final days. Theolia came from a large family of sisters, brothers nieces and nephews whom she absolutely adored and loved spending time with. She has left her family a legacy of love and happiness that will carry on for generations too come.Theolia leaves behind to cherish her memories her sons Todd Lucas, and Oscar Tee Smith, her grand children Anthony “Tony” Gomez, Cory Lucas, Baron Robinson, Joy Robinson, Precious Dodard Robinson, Quan Carlos, Precious Birthwright Lucas, Tracy Delgado-Gomez, James buxton, brother Leroy Lucas and sisters Katie Lucas, Gloria Lucas, Rose Mary West, Sheila Herbert, Velma Yarborough, and Alton Herbert a host of great grandchildren nieces and nephews. Proceeding her in the afterlife is father and mother Leroy and Maebel Lucas, Husband Oscar Smith, daughter Chontee Robinson, daughter in law Tonya Lucas, 3 brother and 5 sisters. We love you Theolia your beautiful soul will be missed each and every day!
